About ISRO Free Online Course
ISRO is currently accepting applications for its online course called “Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning”, which can be completed in 12 days.
The course will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), which is a center of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which is a premier training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of remote sensing, geoinformatics and GNSS technology for natural resources, environmental and disaster management.
The course is most beneficial for professionals from the Central, State Government, Private Organizations, NGO, students, and researchers engaged in ecological studies.
All participants of the course will receive an ISRO certificate for attending the course provided they have 70 percent of attendance via the e-class portal.
The participants who attend the course sessions via the IIRS YouTube channel will have to mark their attendance via online session which will be made available after 24 hours.
What it covers
The course aims at helping participants understand how remote sensing applications are being widely used as a source of environmental information for monitoring biodiversity elements. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:
- * Applications of GIS in biodiversity conservation planning.
- * Fine-scale mapping of vegetation using machine learning.
- * 3D characterization of forest biodiversity.
- * Functional biodiversity assessment using geoinformatics.
- * Wildlife habitat suitability assessment using geoinformatics Cloud computing for forest monitoring.
- * Biodiversity informatics and wildlife telemetry.
**The course will be conducted from 6th to 17th December 2021 on the e-class portal and IIRS YouTube channel. All the Course study materials like lecture slides, video-recorded lectures, open-source software and handouts of demonstrations, and so on will be made available through the e- class.
**You will get a free verified Certificate by ISRO for all the participants with each course.
